It is in court right now, and the Inquiry is to start in January, so probably will be in the news plenty for a while now.

No, my phd is in Canadian Studies....  it is an interdisciplinary program ... the only Canadian Studies phd in Canada.

A doctorate in Canadian Studies? Wouldn't that be a PehD?

The mentally ill have always gotten the short end of the stick, there are very few people willing to stand-up for them. Even when they were placed in hospitals their "treatment" was mostly for the benefit of the staff rather than the patents. ECT and lobotomies were "cures" only to the extent that brain damaged people were less likely to put up any resistance, and electroshock was in some cases nothing more than a form of medically sanctioned torture ("Behave yourself or we'll have to give you another treatment... you wouldn't want that, would you Mr. Smith?"). In the US the "Reagan Revolution" saw many of the state hospitals closed and the mentally ill were sent to prisons. These days when someone acts up they are medicated... doesn't do them much good but it makes the staff happy.

I'd love to hear more about your research whenever you feel like sharing.

Always happy to go on (and on and on and on....) about it... probably should move it to someplace less public at some point though .... our ethics board gets their knickers in a knot at the thought that I might actually discuss my topic on the ACK!!! Internet!!!!

Haven't started that hoop-jumping process yet - will need to soon though. NOT looking forward to it.

Yeah, whose bright idea was it to interconnect the networks? Like many Americans, I blame Al Gore. If I stub my toe I blame Al Gore. If my toast burns I say "Damn you, Al Gore, and your global toaster warming!" I think whenever Jawa makes a typo or breaks the forum he should blame Al Gore.

Mi quip, su quip, flit.

You're welcome, Jawa. Too bad I was only joking about blaming Al Gore for everything.

You could also do what Ross & I do and just blame Valerie for everything.

Post a photo of Al Gore moving your keyboard while you try to type a message and we'll consider your new excuse.
